Costa Rica is the 80th economy in terms of exports and the 49th in terms of complexity, according to the Economic Complexity Index (ECI). During 2018, it exported 10.8 billion dollars and imported 10.3.
Among its main exports are food products, such as bananas or coffee. It also highlights the export of medical equipment and medicines.
Regarding their imports, computer equipment, cars or plastic become essential. Also, they import a large number of products of animal origin, such as beef or horse.
