Door-to-door shipping is a service where the freight forwarder guarantees that the goods will be picked up from and delivered to the locations decided by the end customer. It is different from door-to-port or port-to-port because it begins and ends at specific addresses within cities covered by the freight forwarder.

How our door-to-door moving services work
After you have booked your international move with us and arranged for your household goods to be picked up, you can sit back, relax, and let us handle the rest. What we’ll do for you:
- Pick up and transportation to/from ports: Be it by rail or truck, we’ll cover the journey of your household goods to and from the ports of origin and destination.
- Customs paperwork: We’ll prepare and submit all customs-related documents for your household goods in both the country you’re moving from and country you’ll soon be calling home.
- Handle the ocean freight journey: We’ll ensure the container in which your household goods are transported is guaranteed a spot on the shipping vessel and liaise on your behalf with the shipping carrier.
- Delivery to your new home: Once your household goods have cleared customs, we’ll pick them up from the port and deliver them straight to your doorstep.
DAP Incoterm for door-to-door international shipping
At iContainers, we use the DAP (Delivered at Place) Incoterm for our door-to-door shipping service. It includes the delivery of the goods to the location decided by the customer. All of the main transport’s associated costs and insurance are included in our door-to-door shipping rates, except importation costs such as taxes and duties.
